A More Equitable And Inclusive World
At Psychologists for Racial Justice (PRJ), our mission and vision guide us in our commitment to dismantling systemic racism, promoting racial justice, and fostering a more equitable and inclusive world. Together, we work towards a future where psychology serves as a catalyst for positive social change and where the impacts of racism are mitigated, leading to a brighter and racially just future for everyone.
Our Mission
PRJ is dedicated to advancing racial equity and social justice through research, education, and community engagement. Our mission is to conduct research, provide professional development opportunities, and develop and share resources that promote continued awareness of racism and its consequences while actively working towards a more racially inclusive and equitable field of psychology and society. We are committed to empowering underrepresented racial groups by using psychology to foster collective healing through resistance to racism.
Our Vision

- Professional development and mentorship: We aspire to provide robust professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, and support networks that empower individuals from historically excluded racial backgrounds to excel in psychology, from undergraduate students to seasoned professionals.
- Public awareness and education: We seek to be a leading resource for raising awareness of racism and its consequences to the general public. Through educational materials, workshops, and outreach initiatives, we aim to inspire action and promote dialogue on racial justice.
- Healing and resistance: We envision a society and world where individuals and communities are equipped with the tools to heal from the trauma of racism and actively resist its perpetuation. Through our work, we strive to promote collective healing and empower individuals to engage in activism to promote racial justice.
- A racially diverse and inclusive field of psychology: We envision a profession where underrepresented racial groups have equal representation, leadership, and influence, fostering a rich tapestry of perspectives and experiences within the discipline.
- Research for racial justice and social change: We aim to conduct cutting-edge research that uncovers the roots and manifestations of racism, contributing to a deeper understanding of its impact on individuals and communities. Our research will inform interventions and policies that promote racial equity.
“Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future, and renders the present inaccessible.”
– Maya Angelou
